Resources

I’ve put together a short list with links to resources that have helped me both in my travels and my writing career.

These are based on my most frequently asked questions through email. I hope they help you in your journey, wherever you may be!

Regarding Travel Logistics…

Here are a few essential favorites…

Airfare:

The Flight Deal
Exit Fares
Airfare Watchdog
Google Flights
Scott’s Cheap Flights

Lodging:

Airbnb
Agoda*
(especially for travel in Asia)
Booking.com
(will often browse here even if I book directly.)

Planning:

Rome 2 Rio
(great to plan transport from point A to point B)
Foursquare City Guides

Paying:

The only credit card I use for travel: Chase Sapphire Reserve

Staying Connected:

Skyroam Global Wifi Device

(Readers get 10% off with code: parttimetraveler)

Global wifi for the digital nomad.

Travel Insurance:

Ever since I was robbed of $4,000+ worth of equipment while traveling in Colombia, I’ve become an even bigger proponent of travel insurance.

World Nomads is my favorite because they cover a large amount of the value of your electronics (which many of us travel with) and they have an excellent reputation. I haven’t had any issues filing claims or getting answers to my questions!

Japan Train Travel
Get free shipping on your Japan Rail Pass! Choose from one, two, or three weeks. However much time you have, I am certain it will save you lots of money on transportation costs there.
Travel Gear:
I’ve compiled all of my tried-and-tested, most trusted travel gear here:

Photo Equipment

I recently upgraded my camera gear to the Sony A7Rii. This has been the best full-frame camera for the variety of shots I take around San Francisco and on my travels.

Based on your feedback, I am in the process of providing more itinerary posts, particularly for the two to four-week timeframe we often get as part-time travelers.

Below are the itineraries I have published so far.

Lots of you love my site’s design! When I first started out I used features from other blogs for inspiration. I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching and customizing what you see here.
